Sydney was referred to us by an existing client. She had heard about our integrated interior design approach and wanted her new Soma bodywork studio to be a great healing place for her clients. Her service fit in the Brand New Office category.
We started with an intake to get to know Sydney better: her style and color preferences, her challenges, goals and desires for her new space and her life; and what gave her a sense of peace. Then we assessed the lobby and practice space, clarified how they would function, identified furniture and art items she would already have to bring to her new space and created a laundry list of items to purchase within her budget.
Next, choosing paint color. A fresh looking, yet calming green was chosen for the lobby. Sydney wanted her clients to have a deeply relaxing experience while they were receiving treatment, yet she also wanted the space to remain light and airy. We chose a warm lighter blue and grounded it with darker brown furniture pieces.
With only a long weekend to transform her new space, Sydney took advantage of our shopping support, so we headed off to Ikea and Target to find:
- a storage closet to divide the practice space from her smaller office needs
- fabric panels for closet backing to create a pleasing look on the office side
- a console table with storage baskets for massage oils, etc.
- a side table and chair for clients to debrief before work begins
- lateral filing cabinet to house office papers and act as a stand for lights and art
- couch slipcover for lobby
- accent pillows
- magazine baskets
- rugs
- lamps
- plants
- meaningful and pleasing art with a nature theme to support Sydney to stay grounded and connected to the earth.
She did it! In just three days, with the help of Natural Balance and her friends, Sydney painted and set up her new studio in a conscious, comfortable and meaningful way.
Sydney has received several new clients and kept current ones, all commenting on how good it feels. One person waiting for a friend getting treatment, decided to make an appointment herself because “it seems like something great is going on in there, and my friend had such a glow when she left your space.” Sydney is proud of her bodywork studio and so are we.
