This was an amazing opportunity sponsored by Underhills Furniture. In just 4 days, we transform a completely blank modular home into a comfortable place to live! Using products from Underhills Furniture, Pier One, Harold’s Lamps, Ikea and Lowes, our team of professionals created the Seattle Home Show’s first Feng Shui House for the Street of Ideas.

Entrance
Direction : Northeast; Element: Water; Bagua Color: Blue
A moving fountain is placed outside the entrance to bring fresh energy into the home.
It is important that the entry, once inside, feels open and unrestricted. The Quan Yin statue buffers the fireplace and sets a personalized tone as the greeting symbol.
Kitchen
Direction : North; Element: Water; Bagua Color: Black
With five very large windows in this room the dark fabric blinds are key to creating the strong, secure feeling that this area of the home needs. Black accents and stones are placed to further this intent. If the kitchen is used regularly, cooking and the natural use of water will stimulate the energy in this Career gua.
Great Room
Direction : West and Northwest; Element: Metal; Bagua Color: White and Gray, respectively
Again, many large windows create the need for substantial yet flexible window treatments. The furniture placement breaks up the length of the room and focuses on the fireplace as the common congregating place. The color gray and metal accents are pulled in to connect with the energy of the Creative and Helpful People themes of the bagua.
Living Room
Direction : Southwest; Element: Fire; Bagua Color: Pink
This room will likely see a lot of natural movement with the use of the entertainment center. The blinds are placed to create a sense of coziness and hold the energy in this area when desired. The doeskin paint color and wine accents, as well as the candles, call to the fire element of the Relationship gua.
Dining Room
Direction : Center; Element: Earth; Bagua Color: Yellow
The screen is placed to create a more defined room in this area; the furniture is dark to stabilize the fast moving energy through it. The round table is the best shape for this nearly square space and connects with “center.” Yellow accents are placed to connect with the Yin Yang aspect of this gua.
Creative Room
Direction : Northeast; Element: Water; Bagua Color: Blue
This boldly painted room takes advantage of the color and theme in the bagua, Knowledge and Self-Esteem. The work-table is placed so the sewer can see the door with peripheral vision. A small fish bowl brings in a natural life force and keeps the energy moving in this room.
Guest Room
Direction : East; Element: Wood; Bagua Color: Green
Again, the paint color mimics the Health energy of the bagua. The elements in this room are soft and woody, perfect for slumber. The slatted headboard, not suggested in feng shui, is taken care of by the use of large pillows resting behind the head.
Master Bedroom
Direction : South and Southwest; Element: Fire; Bagua Color: Red and Pink, respectively
This passionate sleep haven is designed with silky fire red and a regal poster bed. The placement of this bed is difficult; facing the Study is more secure than facing the room entrance or the bathroom. Objects of love and joy are hung to give added meaning to the Relationship room.
Master Bath
Direction : South; Element: Fire; Bagua Color: Red
The bold color of this room lifts the energy up and away from the drains, keeping the gua’s intention of Life Energy strong. Solid meaningful objects are placed to help balance the energy and give a sense of peace.
Study
Direction : Southeast; Element: Wood; Bagua Color: Purple
Purple paint is used on two walls to create the rich feeling of this gua, Wealth, without making the room too dark. The strong wood desk and bookshelves further stimulate the energy here. The desk is placed so that the person working there has control of the room’s entrance.
